Physical therapists need extensive training in imaging, biomechanics, neuroscience, anatomy, pharmacology, and other areas. As the practice of physical therapy has become more advanced, therapists are required to complete a Doctor of Physical Therapy program.
Then, candidates take the National Physical Therapy examination and get licensed. Most states also require physical therapists to meet continuing education requirements every two years. Also, The American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties certifies physical therapists in any of its ten specialty areas.
